A collection of newspaper cuttings, articles and photographs relating to Bolton's adopted ship H.M.S. Dido. The ship was adopted by the town of Bolton during 'Warship Week' October the 18th - 25th in 1941. The National Savings Campaign begun during the early years of the Second World War encouraged cities, towns and villages to raise enough money to provide the cost of building a particular ship. The 'adoption' included the ship and its crew.
